Homeschooling Detective Style Learners

Your child is full of questions. They thrive on research, knowledge, and “diving in deep.” Libraries, museums, and bookstores are among their favorite places. Sometimes they seem to get hooked on one topic and will learn about it for months- or even years. You find they love subjects like science and history.

If this sounds like your child, you are raising what we call a Detective Learner. These are often our world’s researchers, statisticians, and scientists. Sometimes, it can be challenging for parents to understand their children's intense interests and passions. Often, kids with Asperger's are Detective learners.

We have developed this Detective Learner bundle to enable your student to explore a range of subjects in depth. Also included is a core journal to ensure your student covers all of the basic school subjects in a fun format that Detectives enjoy.

This bundle includes- Are You a Math Genius?

● Do It Yourself Unschooling Journal

● Heroes & Villains of History

● Inventions & Inventors

● Lost & Found Brain Games

● Mythological Creatures & Legendary Animals

● Travel Dreams: 30 Cities

Are you a Math Genius? Detectives love a good challenge, and this journal is full of them. It’s not just math—it includes writing, logic problems, art, and more.

Do It Yourself Unschooling Journal- Lets your student study what they’re interested in while covering all the basic school subjects in one place.

Heroes & Villains of History puts your Detective in the role of the judge. They’ll study in-depth about historical figures and decide if that person was/is a hero or a villain in their eyes.

Inventions & Inventors -Detective kids usually love learning about inventions and inventors. They’ll get to dive deep into some of the most life-changing inventions of human history.

Lost & Found Brain Games provide a much-needed brain break for the busy Detective. Full of art and logic puzzles your Detective will love to solve.

Mythological Creatures & Legendary Animals contains creatures from around the world. This whimsical journal will help your Detective let loose a little bit and delve into the unknown.

Travel Dreams: 30 Cities takes students around the world with an in-depth study of some of the world’s most famous cities.

*Substitutions welcome- Does your child need a different level of math? Do you already own one or two of these journals?

You can substitute one or two journals if needed. Place your order and immediately email us with your order number, the journal(s) you want to remove, and the journal(s) you wish to substitute. The value of the substituted journals must be equal to or less than the value of the removed journals.

Suggested Lesson Plans

We suggest students complete the same number of pages per day as their age. For example, an 8-year-old would work on eight pages daily, and a 14-year-old would work on 14. One page is a single side of a piece of paper.

Detective kids often enjoy diving deeply into their academic studies. Option two will likely be the preferred option for many Detectives.

Option 1-

○ First Semester: Travel Dreams- two cities per week,

○ Second Semester: Mythological Creatures- at least two creatures per week

○ Year Round-

-Lost & Found Brain Games- 2-4 pages/day at least once a week

Heroes and Villains: At least one section per week. You can also fill it out as you go through your chosen History curriculum; this approach will last several years.

-Are You a Math Genius?- At least one problem per week. Also, a popular warm-up before a chosen math curriculum.

○ Do It Yourself Unschooling Journal- Daily

Option 2: Use one journal at a time. Each journal will last 6-12 weeks, depending on your child's age.

Option 3: Loop schedule. Place the journals in a pile. Let your students use as many pages from the top journal as they desire—or assign a specific number of pages. Then, they will use the next journal in the pile in the same way.

Our materials are flexible. There’s no wrong way to use them.
